How often should I change my Cal Spas hot tub filter?

The life expectancy of our hot tub filter really depends on your level of water care, how well you care of your filter(s), as well as the type of filter you have. If you are not using a Cal Spas filter brand, then I recommend that you refer to your owners manual for proper filter care. This general maintenance care tip should be a good starting point for you.

It's very important that you follow proper filter care maintenance. Not maintaining your filter could lead to issues with water clarity and even damage to your Cal Spas equipment.

  • Soak your filter in a filter cleaning solution that you can purchase from any Pool Supply Store. Soak it overnight at least every 3-4 months. Do not put it in a dishwasher.
  • Because the filter can become clogged with body oil, I recommend that you clean it with brilliance filter cleaner every 3-4 months.
  • In between these deep cleaning methods above, you can spray it down with a water hose just to keep things maintained.
